April 12, 2021 — Please see the World Federation of Hemophilia/European Haemophilia Consortium statement on very rare adverse events with COVID-19 vaccines:

The key messages are:

  • People with bleeding disorders are not at any higher risk of adverse reactions, such as blood clots, compared to those in the general population.
  • The benefits of COVID-19 vaccines far outweigh the risks.
  • People should get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible with whatever vaccine is offered to them.

Note that the AstraZeneca vaccine is not currently offered to those under 55 years of age in Canada.
